Posters

Instead of getting any work done today I filled out two frames with misc memories. The first is music themed and the second has a bit of everything. It's incredible how many ticket stubs I have. An entire frame full, two more with a few random ones and yet I still have more in a stack of papers. It's insane really.

I'll work on getting better photos once I hang them.

I miss the crowd

I miss this.

These photos were taken a few years ago at a Ben Harper show I went to with my mother. We've been going to shows together since Peter, Paul, and Mary in 1990. These particular photos were taken inside Paradiso, one of my favorite music venues in the world (The first being Melkweg and the third being Red Rocks).

Paradiso is an old church, with an epic history. The history itself deserves its own post that will come in time. As for now, I'm off to get some rest.

Roaring '20s

I've been having a major want for fringe recently. This dress is on sale for 13 dollars, 20 with shipping and I can't help but want it! Decisions, decisions.

A peek into my closet.

Just a little look into the mess of my closet. A lot is in the laundry right now, which doesn't help my case in saying that I still want more!

DIY Poster

Just a quick DIY project I made using some of my tickets stubs.

As everything in my apartment is framed, I realized I had reached the point in my life where tape and thumbtacks are no longer acceptable. Instead, I went to the store and bought myself a large frame ($9) and carefully filled it with as many of my ticket stubs as possible. While quite a few did not make the cut, I now have a fantastic reminder of the many shows I enjoyed in high school.

]I eventually went back to the store and purchased two more frames of the same size and will continue filling them with concert tickets, memories, and photos. It's a cheap and organized way to keep track of all the little bits of memories that have been carried with me each and every time I move.

Show and Tell

After a long day of work and classes I decided to take a shopping break at a local boutique. This store in particular had recently undergone an incredible makeover, making it a top competitor for my favorite store in town (Twenty Ten and Juniper being the other two). After moving locations Collette really expanded. With a huge collection of clothing, including Free People, they greatly impressed me.

My friends have been going on about my mostly-black wardrobe, so I finally decided to do something to lighten it up. With waist length red hair and a hippy upbringing, it was about time to admit my dark days were over. Thus enter the three clothing items featured in above. The rose chiffon shirt is probably my favorite as you can pair it with nearly anything. Grey and black look the best under it, but I'm sure I'll find a nice brown to give it more of an earthy feel. The shirt gathers at the waist in a nice lose bow, and has great detailing up around the collar to add the right amount of flair. The dress is fabulous and fitted with a preppy collar to match the floral pattern. It also has pockets which I love. Finally the shoes (purchased from Juniper, not Collette on the same day), complete both items.

Hopefully this color scheme is the start of something new, an adventure into new fashions which I cannot wait to explore.

Taste of Winter

Sweater: Nasty Gal
Shoes: Aldo (Bought on Rodeo Drive)

While this is not my favorite look, I finally got my camera working so I had to post something! This is from a couple months ago when it was still icy and grey outside. Looking at this I realize how desperately I need to have my hair done. Unfortunately for me, I will not be touching it until I figure my summer out. No use dying it dark when I could be spending the months in a sunny place! I am set on cutting off about 5 inches though. It's waist length and unmanageable.

I was in love with this sweater when I saw it on the Nasty Gal website but have not been too pleased with it since. The idea of the knit coming undone as a style may be great, but in practice it just makes the sweater fall apart faster. It is 100% wool though, making it perfect for the ice cold winters I've been forced to experience.

Morning Spikes

Studded Spike Flat Shoes in Beige

Studded Envelope Clutch

Studded Liberty Headband
For years I always thought spikes and studs had to be something that depicted severity. I now realize that spikes can be done up in a feminine way. I've been trying to find a pair of studded loafers for quite some time, but have not found any within a reasonable price range (Jeffrey Campbell, although I adore thee $160 loafers will not be in my budget any time soon). Fortunately I discovered these beige beauties for only $60 dollars this morning! Along with the shoes I also found a few studded accessories to add into my day to day wardrobe. My favorite is the studded headband which goes for $19. With the bag at $65 most anyone can add a little bit of edge into an otherwise soft closet.

A Post of its Own.

I'm pretty sure these shoes deserve a post of their own. So here it is! I found this picture on tumblr with the lyrics from Maps attached. Couldn't be more perfect for someone who loves a bit a traveling and a lot of shoes.

Drinkify

While the focus of this blog may be on fashion, I cannot help but share my obsession for music. Awhile ago I found this fantastically fun website called Drinkify. This site pairs music with drinks in a ridiculous way. I instantly tried Garbage (my favorite band that just released their first new single in 7 years!) and was greeted with the sudden need for a cold PBR and the rocking lyrics of Only Happy When it Rains.

After messing around for awhile on the site (Nirvana being paired with 10oz. of Marijuana and pickled carrot sticks, and Kiss being paired with a bottle of Blue Nun served at room temp) My boyfriend got a hold of the program. Needless to say I now know that if I ever listen to Notorious B.I.G. I will need to drink a bottle of champagne (sounds surprising but when listing to the music it becomes understandable).

I recommend checking this website out for kicks. It provides endless entertainment, laughs, and it plays music by each of the artists you select.

The creators of this site have developed a new way to show just how influential music is on our mood and our cravings (along with genre stereotyping...thank you Nirvana) and I couldn't be more excited to have my cold PBR and listen to the new Garbage album once it hits stores on May 14th.
